A studio small enough to stay accountable.
Typza is a Squarespace studio in Denmark, run by Mikkel Calmann and working with businesses worldwide. Over 125 builds, 50+ industries, one platform done properly.
I started Typza because the standard model is broken.
A designer builds your site and moves on. An SEO agency sends a report full of numbers. A developer answers when they feel like it. Everyone is technically doing their job, and nobody is accountable for the only thing that matters — whether the site brings you customers.
So Typza is deliberately narrow. One platform, four offers, one person who stays on the hook after launch. Every project starts with the same question: what does this business actually need in order to win more work? Then design, copy and SEO all answer to that, instead of to a mood board.
Typza was founded by Mikkel Calmann. You deal with the people doing the work, from the first call to the month after launch — no account manager relaying messages, no junior quietly doing the work.
How we work, stated plainly
These aren't values on a wall. They're the rules that decide what we say yes to and how projects actually run.
Message before pixels
What the site should say gets agreed before anyone opens a design tool. It is why revisions stay small and why the finished thing argues for you rather than just looking tidy.
Built for that brand specifically
Every site starts from a blank canvas. If your site could be someone else's with the logo swapped, we've failed — and that is the whole reason clients come to us rather than a template.
We'll tell you not to buy
If a cheaper fix would do, that's what the discovery call concludes. Selling the wrong project costs us the referral it would have earned, so the honest answer is also the commercial one.
One team, before and after
The people you meet on the first call are the ones doing the work and the ones still there a month after launch. No account manager relaying messages between you and whoever is building it.
Fixed price, agreed up front
The number is settled in writing before you commit and it does not move afterwards. Genuine additions are quoted separately rather than absorbed into a bill that quietly grows.
You own everything
Domain, subscription, analytics and content stay in your name throughout. Nothing stops working if you walk away, and there is no arrangement that makes leaving expensive.
Who we are the right studio for
A good fit
- Established businesses that want to look like the expert choice, not the cheap one
- Owners who'd rather approve good decisions than make every one themselves
- Companies whose site is genuinely costing them work
- Agencies needing a reliable whitelabel build partner
- Anyone who wants strategy, build and SEO handled by one accountable team
Probably not a fit
- Cheapest-quote shopping — we'll lose that comparison on purpose
- Projects that need heavy custom application logic or a bespoke platform
- "Just make it look nicer" with no interest in what it says
- Design by committee, where five people must approve every heading
- Anyone expecting page-one rankings inside a month

What clients say when the project is over
“Mikkel is truly a one of a kind talent and an all around pleasure to work with. He is more than a freelancer. He’s a businessman himself who made it a point to understand my business. If you can articulate it, he can make it. He is perhaps the clearest communicator of any web designer I have ever worked with. He incorporates certain tools and software in his feedback process that create for a seamless implementation of any design feedback he receives. And he nails it. No matter how detailed or lengthy, not a single comment is lost on him. I am working on other businesses as well where I will soon need a website for them too. My only regret is not being able to build those other businesses fast enough, so I can see him create magic again sooner. When those projects are ready to advance and are ready for their big public debut, I know who I will be going to. Thank you Mikkel, sincerely.”

“Working with Mikkel was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I didn’t have a clear roadmap when we began — just a rough concept — and he somehow managed to bring clarity, structure, and creativity to the entire process. As the project evolved and my ideas shifted, Mikkel remained patient, thoughtful, and solutions-focused. He listened carefully, asked the right questions, and consistently delivered work that captured exactly what I was hoping for — even when I couldn’t fully articulate it myself. I’m absolutely thrilled with the final result and incredibly grateful for the effort and dedication he invested. I would not hesitate to recommend him.”

“Working with Mikkel on the Ajarro website was one of the best creative collaborations I’ve had. He has a rare combination of design artistry, technical depth, and human intuition that makes a brand feel alive. From day one, he understood the essence of what I wanted Ajarro to represent: modern, elevated, confident, and distinctly anti-agency. He translated that vision into a clean, high-performance site that feels effortless. Every decision, from typography and motion to mobile responsiveness and SEO setup, was intentional and grounded in both strategy and beauty. Beyond talent, Mikkel brings genuine professionalism, clear communication, and a problem-solver’s mindset. I’d recommend him to anyone looking for more than a designer. He’s a true brand partner who brings ideas to life with precision and heart. I truly cannot recommend Mikkel enough!”

“After several weeks of struggling to get my website launch-ready on my own, I finally realized that I needed help. Sheer good luck led me to Mikkel. My strengths do not lie in anything related to tech and all of the nuances of web design, including SEO, are complete mysteries to me. They are areas, however, in which Mikkel is fluent. He offered clarity and a path forward at a time of uncertainty, and he turned my website into something that truly represents my vision. Everyone comments on its layout, ascetics and accessibility. Mikkel’s competence is off the charts – he was an exacting perfectionist to get my site where it needed to be. His communication skills and delivery reflect the consummate professional he is. And he is an absolute pleasure to work with as well. He delivers what he says he will and consistently went beyond. I’m so happy (and lucky) that I found Mikkel. He is my forever go-to and I’m recommending him to friends and colleagues. You will value Mikkel’s insights and talents. If you need a reliable, trustworthy, insanely competent specialist, you’ve found the right person in Mikkel.”

Questions about working with us
Who will we actually be working with?
+
The people doing the work. Typza stays deliberately small, so whoever you speak to on the first call is building your site and is still there a month after launch. No account manager relaying messages, and no junior quietly inheriting the project once the contract is signed.
Why only Squarespace?
+
Because specialising is why the work looks custom and ships in weeks rather than quarters. It also means you can edit your own content afterwards, nothing breaks on a plugin update, and hosting and security are handled. If a project genuinely needs another platform, we say so instead of taking it.
You're in Denmark — does the timezone matter?
+
Not in practice. Most clients are in the UK, EU, US and Australia. We keep later slots for US calls, work asynchronously by default, and you will never wait more than one business day for a reply during an active project.
How much of our time will a project take?
+
Realistically three to four hours across the whole thing: one discovery call, one review of what the site will say, and one review of the built site. Everything else happens without you — the process is designed around the fact that your time is the expensive part.
What if we're not sure which offer we need?
+
That is what the discovery call is for, and it settles it in about thirty minutes. If a cheaper fix would do the job, that is what you will hear — selling the wrong project costs us the referral it would have earned. See pricing for how the four offers compare.
Do you work with agencies?
+
Yes, on a whitelabel basis — you sell the work, hand over the brief, and present it as your own. Fixed trade rates, published delivery standards, and your client never hears our name. Details on the whitelabel page.
What is your homepage
costing you?
Send us your site. You get back a ten-minute video of us going through your homepage, naming the three to five things costing you enquiries, and how we would fix each one.
