Small studio.
High standard.

Typza is deliberately small and growing carefully. We bring people in as contract collaborators first, real paid work, clear scope and the good ones stay on retainer. No unpaid tests, no fake urgency, no "exposure".

What it's actually like to work here

Craft over speed — but we still ship

Every site is custom, so the work is genuinely design work. Deadlines are real and honoured; the way we hit them is scoping honestly, not cutting corners at 2am.

You own your deliverable

Briefed properly, then left alone. We review at agreed checkpoints rather than watching over your shoulder — and we give direct feedback rather than vague notes.

Paid on time, every time

Invoices are settled inside 14 days, and scope changes mean a revised rate — not the same fee for more work. We have been the freelancer chasing payment and won't run it that way.

Async, genuinely

One weekly call, everything else in writing and Loom. Work the hours that suit you as long as deadlines and client-facing commitments hold.

Squarespace, deeply

One platform, learned properly. If you want to touch six different stacks a year this isn't the studio — if you want to be genuinely excellent at one, it is.

Honest about the trade-offs

It's a small studio: no HR department, no career ladder, no benefits package. Work comes in waves. What you get instead is autonomy, real ownership and direct access to the people making decisions.

Open roles

Two fixed-price projects, two monthly retainers. Every deliverable is included in the price — nothing gets upsold back to you later.

No roles open right now

The studio takes a limited number of projects at a time, so hiring happens in waves. These are the roles we bring people in for — send your work anyway and you'll be first on the list when capacity opens up.

Squarespace Designer & Builder

Take a signed-off copy document and a direction, and produce a custom site that doesn't look like a template. Desktop and mobile, custom CSS where the platform needs help.

  • 2–4 builds/month
  • Per-project rate
  • Hiring in waves

You should have

  • Real Squarespace 7.1 depth — fluid engine, custom CSS, code blocks
  • A portfolio where the platform isn't obvious
  • Genuine typographic and layout judgement
  • Mobile treated as a design, not a squeeze-down
  • Clear written English and reliable deadlines

SEO & Content Writer

Write the monthly content behind Grow partnerships — blog posts and landing pages for trades, legal, veterinary and industrial clients. Structured for search engines and answer engines both.

  • 6–10 pieces/month
  • Per-piece rate
  • Hiring in waves

You should have

  • Commercial SEO writing experience, with examples that ranked
  • Ability to sound like the client, not like a content mill
  • Working understanding of schema and AI-citable structure
  • Comfort with unglamorous B2B and trade subjects
  • AI used for research, never for shipping unedited text

Migration Specialist

The unglamorous, high-trust work: moving content off WordPress and Wix by hand, mapping redirects, verifying nothing broke. The part of a Rebuild that decides whether rankings survive it.

  • Project-based
  • Per-project rate
  • Hiring in waves

You should have

  • Done real migrations, including ones that went wrong
  • Fluency with crawls, 301 mapping and Search Console
  • An almost irritating level of thoroughness
  • Willingness to check 200 URLs by hand and enjoy it
  • Clear written English and reliable deadlines

How hiring works here

01

You apply

Day 0

Portfolio link and a few honest lines about what you want to be doing. No cover letter theatre, no CV formatting rules. Every application gets a reply either way.

02

One conversation

When capacity opens

Forty-five minutes about your work and how you make decisions. One call, not five rounds — we're not going to waste six weeks of your time to hire a contractor.

03

A paid first project

Real client work

One real deliverable at your normal rate, so we both find out how it feels to work together. Never an unpaid test, and never spec work for a live pitch.

04

Ongoing work

If it fits both ways

A regular monthly allocation you can plan around, with rates reviewed as the studio grows. Several collaborators have been here since 2024 on exactly this basis.

Apply

Send a portfolio and a couple of honest sentences. If nothing above fits but the studio sounds right, apply speculatively — say what you'd want to own.

but have clients?

Agencies and studios can hand builds over instead. Fixed trade rates, delivery standards published, and your client never hears our name.
