Modern website design that makes you look as current as you are.

An outdated site makes a capable business look like it has stopped moving, and visitors quietly choose someone who looks sharper. We design custom websites that feel current, load fast on any phone and make the next step obvious, at a fixed price agreed before we start.

See what the audit checks

Visitors judge how current you are long before they judge what you do.

Dated layouts, stock photography and slow pages read as a business that has stopped investing in itself. Modern isn't about chasing trends. It is a site that is clear, fast and confident, built for how people browse now: mostly on a phone, in a hurry, comparing you with two or three others.

What makes a website feel modern

Each part below is there because it changes whether a visitor stays long enough to enquire.

A clear message in the first screen

One headline that says what you do and for whom, one supporting line, one next step. Modern sites say less, sooner.

Designed for phones first

Most visitors arrive on a phone, so the phone layout is designed on its own, not squeezed down from desktop.

Fast by default

Images sized for each screen and nothing loaded that isn't used. Speed is the first thing a visitor notices and the last thing they forgive.

Type and space that feel current

A confident type scale, generous spacing and a restrained palette. Most of what reads as modern is spacing done properly.

Motion with a purpose

Subtle reveals that guide the eye, and nothing that spins, bounces or slows the page down.

An enquiry that takes a minute

A short form or a call booked directly, with only the questions you need to answer well.

A performer we did this for: Aria Melody

A performer with an outdated website and a clear brief: a redesign that feels both sophisticated and fun. Two qualities that most sites pick one of, because holding both at once is genuinely difficult.

A dated site and a brief pulling two ways

The existing site had aged in the way personal sites do, the design conventions of the year it was built, still visible years later. For a performer, that dates the artist as much as the website, and bookers notice.

The brief itself was the harder problem. Sophisticated usually means restrained to the point of cold, and fun usually means loud to the point of unserious. Chasing both without a clear rule produces something that reads as neither.

Sophistication in the layout, fun in the details

Resolve it structurally: let the layout carry the sophistication and the details carry the fun. Generous space, assured typography and disciplined composition underneath, with personality expressed through colour, motion and small moments rather than through the overall frame.

That split meant the site could feel playful without ever looking amateur, and polished without feeling corporate, which is the balance the brief was actually asking for.

Six decisions that shaped the build, each made for a reason rather than an aesthetic.

  • Sophistication in the structureGenerous space, assured typography and disciplined composition, the frame holds the seriousness so the details are free to play.
  • Personality in the detailsColour, motion and small interactive moments carry the fun, rather than the overall layout having to shout.
  • Performance work at scaleMedia and imagery presented large enough to convey what a performance actually feels like, which no amount of description achieves.
  • Booking made obviousA clear route to enquiry from anywhere on the site, because interest in a performer peaks while watching rather than afterwards.

How your modern website gets built

Four stages, in the same order every time. How long each takes depends on the size of the site, and you get the timeline in writing before anything starts.

  1. Discovery

One call and a short form. Who your best clients are, which competitors they compare you with, and what makes your current site feel dated.

  2. Copy first

We write your homepage copy first and show it on a mockup, then every other page. You see the words in place before we design.

  3. Design and build

Designed custom from a blank canvas, phone and desktop, with speed, SEO, schema and analytics built in as we go, not bolted on after.

  4. Launch and handover

Every URL redirected so existing rankings hold, then training, 30 days of support, and full ownership in your name.

3 to 4 hours That is all the time it takes from you: a discovery call, a copy review and a site review. Gathering content and images is usually the longest part, and it can run in parallel.

Questions businesses ask us

Straight answers before you book anything.

Still have a question?Ask us directly, or talk it through with us on a free 15-minute call.

What makes a website look modern?

Clarity, speed and space. A clear message in the first screen, a layout designed for phones, generous spacing, current typography and pages that load quickly. Trends come and go; sites that are clear and fast keep looking current for years.

Will we lose our current search rankings?

No. Every URL is mapped and 301-redirected before launch, and rankings are measured either side so anything bringing in enquiries keeps working. Some movement in the first two weeks is normal while Google recrawls the site, and a lasting drop only happens when a migration is not mapped.

What will our business's site be built on?

Squarespace, on Launch and Rebuild. We build only on Squarespace, so we know it inside out: the design is custom, the site ships in weeks, and your team can change text and add pages without paying a developer. Hosting and security are handled.

How do we know if our website looks outdated?

The common signs: it looks cramped on a phone, it relies on sliders or stock photography, it loads slowly, and the first screen doesn't say what you do. Our guide to the signs your website looks outdated goes through them, or get a free audit of your own site.

Can we keep our content and just modernise the design?

Yes. That is what Launch is for: your words and structure stay, and we design and build them properly. If the message itself feels dated, Rebuild rewrites it first.

Will a modern design still work for traditional clients?

Yes. Modern doesn't mean flashy. Clear navigation, readable type and obvious next steps help every visitor, and those are exactly the things a modern site gets right.

How long will a modern design stay current?

Longer than a trend-led one. Designs built on clear structure and good type age slowly. With Maintain or Grow, the site is also updated month by month rather than left to date.

Who writes the content, and can we review it?

We write every page and share it for your review before design begins. That is where most of the modernising happens: shorter, clearer pages that say what you do in the first screen. You can correct anything at document stage, and nothing goes live without your approval.

How much of our time will this take?

Three to four hours: a discovery call, a copy review and a site review. Gathering photography is usually the longest part, and it can run in parallel. Reviews are scheduled around your busiest periods, so nothing needs your attention when you are stretched.

What does it cost, and who owns the site?

Projects start from $5,000, with the exact figure set by page count, functionality and whether existing content is being migrated. You get a fixed number in writing before anything begins, no hourly billing and no scope surprises. You own the result outright: the domain, the website account and every piece of content are in your name from day one, with no agency lock-in. Full detail on the pricing page.
