Bespoke website design, made for your business and no one else's.

A template makes you look like every other business that bought it, and your clients notice. We design bespoke websites from a blank canvas, around your clients, your work and your words, at a fixed price agreed before we start.

See what the audit checks

A template was designed for someone else's business. Your clients can tell.

Bespoke means the structure, the words and the design all start from your business: who you sell to, what they need to see and what makes you different. Nothing is bent to fit a layout made for someone else, so the site works as hard as you do.

What makes a website bespoke

Each part below is made for your business, not adapted from someone else's.

Structure from your clients, not a template

Pages planned around the questions your clients ask, in the order they ask them.

Words written for you

Copy written from your discovery call, in your voice, never filled in from a template.

Design from a blank canvas

Layouts, type and colour made for your brand, so the site couldn't belong to anyone else.

Features you actually need

Booking, forms, galleries or portals added because your business needs them, not because a template had them.

A process built around you

Discovery, copy, design and launch, with your review at each stage.

An enquiry that fits how you sell

The questions you need answered before a first call, and nothing else.

A practice we did this for: Stratamaki Studio

The portfolio of architect Michael Kats, whose practice moves between research and making. The site had to show each project as a set of layers, site, research, drawing, form, rather than one finished image.

A render grid that hid the thinking

Architecture portfolios tend to look alike: a grid of renders, a name, a contact link. For research-led work that format hides the part that matters, because the thinking lives in the site analysis, the drawings and the material studies, not the final image.

The people reading it are hiring practices, collaborators and academic panels. They read closely, and they are judging rigour and process as much as taste.

Every project in layers, like a drawing set

Give every project the same structure: a number and a location, a one-line reading of the idea, then the research and drawings behind it. The portfolio reads as a body of work, and each project is presented the way it was made.

Then design the site like a drawing set. Paper tones, hairline rules, monospace metadata and spaced uppercase titles, so the interface steps back and the drawings carry the colour.

Six decisions that shaped the build, each made so the work could be read properly.

  • Projects as layersEach project page moves from site to research to drawing to form, so the reader follows the thinking and not only the outcome.
  • A drawing-set aestheticPaper tones, hairline rules and monospace metadata. The site reads as an extension of the work rather than a template around it.
  • Numbered, located, indexedEvery project leads with its number and place, 01 · Marseille, 02 · Isle Royale, so the portfolio reads as a body of research.
  • Resume on the pageExperience, skills, education and honours in an accordion, with the full CV one click away as a PDF.

How your bespoke website gets built

Four stages, in the same order every time. How long each takes depends on the size of the site, and you get the timeline in writing before anything starts.

  1. Discovery

One call and a short form. Who your clients are, what they need to see, and what makes your business different from the rest.

  2. Copy first

We write your homepage copy first and show it on a mockup, then every other page. You see the words in place before we design.

  3. Design and build

Designed custom from a blank canvas, desktop and mobile, with SEO, schema and analytics wired in as we go, not bolted on after.

  4. Launch and handover

Every URL redirected so existing rankings hold, then training, 30 days of support, and full ownership in your name.

3 to 4 hours That is all the time it takes from you: a discovery call, a copy review and a site review. Gathering content and images is usually the longest part, and it can run in parallel.

Questions about bespoke websites

Straight answers before you book anything.

Still have a question?Ask us directly, or talk it through with us on a free 15-minute call.

What is the difference between a bespoke website and a template?

A template is a finished layout you fill in. A bespoke site starts from your business: the structure, the words and the design are made for your clients and your work, so it looks and works like nobody else's.

Will we lose our current search rankings?

No. Every URL is mapped and 301-redirected before launch, and rankings are measured either side so anything bringing in enquiries keeps working. Some movement in the first two weeks is normal while Google recrawls the site, and a lasting drop only happens when a migration is not mapped.

What will our business's site be built on?

Squarespace, on Launch and Rebuild. We build only on Squarespace, so we know it inside out: the design is custom, the site ships in weeks, and your team can change text and add pages without paying a developer. Hosting and security are handled.

Is bespoke the same as custom?

Yes. Bespoke is the word more common in the UK and custom the word more common in the US. Both mean the site is made for your business from a blank canvas rather than adapted from a template.

Can we still edit a bespoke site ourselves?

Yes. Bespoke is about how the site is made, not who can change it. Text, images and pages are editable in-house, with a recorded walkthrough of your own site. If nobody has time, Maintain handles every change within 48 hours.

Does a bespoke site take longer to build?

A little, because it starts from discovery rather than a layout. A Launch project usually runs four to eight weeks and a Rebuild eight to sixteen, depending on the number of pages and how much content is written from scratch. You get a dated schedule before work begins.

Who writes the content, and can we review it?

We write every page and share it for your review before design begins. Bespoke copy comes from your discovery call, so this is where you hear your business described in your own terms. You can correct anything at document stage, and nothing goes live without your approval.

How much of our time will this take?

Three to four hours: a discovery call, a copy review and a site review. Gathering photography is usually the longest part, and it can run in parallel. Reviews are scheduled around your busiest periods, so nothing needs your attention when you are stretched.

What does it cost, and who owns the site?

Projects start from $5,000, with the exact figure set by page count, functionality and whether existing content is being migrated. You get a fixed number in writing before anything begins, no hourly billing and no scope surprises. You own the result outright: the domain, the website account and every piece of content are in your name from day one, with no agency lock-in. Full detail on the pricing page.
