Website migration that keeps the rankings you already earned.

Moving a website is where most businesses lose search traffic they spent years building, usually because nobody mapped the old addresses to the new ones. We move your site to Squarespace from WordPress, Wix or anything else, redirect every URL and measure rankings before and after, at a fixed price agreed before we start.

See what the audit checks

A migration rarely breaks on launch day. It breaks quietly, one missing redirect at a time.

Every old address that leads nowhere is a page Google forgets and a link from another site that now goes to an error. The damage shows up weeks later as a slow drop in enquiries, long after anyone connects it to the move. So the work that matters most happens before launch: listing every URL, deciding where each one goes and checking it afterwards.

What a safe website migration includes

Each part below is there to make sure the new site keeps what the old one earned.

Every URL found and mapped

We list every address the old site has, including the ones that aren't in the menu, and decide where each one goes on the new site before anything moves.

301 redirects, set before launch

Permanent redirects from every old address to its new page, so visitors, links from other sites and search engines all land in the right place.

Rankings measured either side

A snapshot of what the site ranks for before the move, then the same check afterwards, so any drop is found and fixed instead of discovered months later.

Content moved with care

Page titles, descriptions, headings and posts come across with the content, so the pages that rank keep the things that made them rank.

Structured data rebuilt

Schema for your business, services and FAQs rebuilt on the new site, so search engines read it at least as well as the old one.

Forms and links tested

Every form, booking link and integration tested on the new site before the domain moves, so no enquiry gets lost in the switch.

A company we did this for: M1 Catalysts

An industrial catalyst supplier selling to engineers and technical buyers who assess capability before they ever make contact, and who dismiss marketing language instantly.

Marketing copy for a technical audience

Technical buyers are the hardest audience to write for because they are actively suspicious of persuasion. They want specification, tolerance, application detail and evidence, and the previous site gave them marketing copy, which reads as a company with nothing concrete to say.

The commercial problem was compounded by search. Highly specific technical queries were going to competitors with better-structured content, and increasingly to AI answers that had no reason to cite M1 as a source.

Written for the engineer, readable by machines

Write for the engineer. Real specifications, real application detail, real conditions, structured so a technical buyer can verify capability without contacting anyone, which is exactly how they prefer to buy.

Then structure that content so machines can read it too: proper schema, clear question-and-answer formatting, and specificity concrete enough that an answer engine has to attribute rather than paraphrase.

Six decisions that shaped the build, each made for a reason rather than an aesthetic.

  • Written for engineersSpecification, application and tolerance detail rather than marketing language, technical buyers are actively suspicious of persuasion.
  • Verifiable without contactEnough real detail that a buyer can assess capability alone, which is how technical purchasing actually happens.
  • Structured to be citedProper schema and clear answer formatting so search engines and AI answer engines can quote the site as a source rather than paraphrase around it.
  • Rankings protectedEvery existing URL mapped to a 301 with the technical archive migrated by hand, so the rebuild kept the visibility already earned.

How your website migration runs

Four stages, in the same order every time. How long each takes depends on the size of the site, and you get the timeline in writing before anything starts.

  1. Discovery and audit

One call and a short form, then a full list of the old site: every page, post and address, what ranks, and which forms and integrations it uses.

  2. Map and plan

Every old URL gets a new home. If content is changing too, we write the homepage first on a mockup, then every other page, for your review.

  3. Build and move

The new site is built on a private address, content moved across with its titles and headings, schema rebuilt, and every form and link tested.

  4. Launch and check

Redirects set, the domain moved, rankings compared with the snapshot, then training, 30 days of support and full ownership in your name.

3 to 4 hours That is all the time it takes from you: a discovery call, a review of the plan and a site review. We do the listing, mapping and moving.

Questions about website migration

Straight answers before you book anything.

Still have a question?Ask us directly, or talk it through with us on a free 15-minute call.

Will we lose our search rankings when we move?

Not with a mapped migration. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to its new page, page titles, descriptions and headings move with the content, and schema is rebuilt. We take a ranking snapshot before the move and check it after. Some movement in the first two weeks is normal while Google recrawls the site.

Which platforms can you move a site from?

Any of them. WordPress, Wix, Webflow, an older Squarespace site or something custom: what matters is listing every page and address the old site has, and that works the same way whatever it runs on. Our WordPress to Squarespace guide walks through the most common move.

What will our business's site be built on?

Squarespace, on Launch and Rebuild. We build only on Squarespace, so we know it inside out: the design is custom, the site ships in weeks, and your team can change text and add pages without paying a developer. Hosting and security are handled.

Can we move the site without redesigning it?

The new site is always built fresh on Squarespace, so it gets a design made for it. If your content and direction are settled, Launch builds around them and keeps the words. If the site needs rethinking too, Rebuild does both in one project.

What happens to our blog posts?

They come across with their titles, headings and images, and each one is redirected from its old address. Posts that no longer earn their place can be merged into stronger ones and redirected, so nothing leads to a dead end.

Will the site go offline during the move?

No. The new site is built and tested on a private address while the old one keeps running. On launch day the domain is pointed at the new site and the redirects take effect together.

What about our email and domain?

Your domain stays yours, and only the records the website needs are changed. Email runs separately from the website, so moving the site does not move your email.

How long does a migration take?

A Launch project usually runs four to eight weeks and a Rebuild eight to sixteen, depending on how many pages there are and how much content is written from scratch rather than moved across. You get a dated schedule before work begins.

What does it cost, and who owns the site?

Launch starts from $5,000 and Rebuild from $9,500, with the exact figure set by page count, functionality and how much content is being moved. You get a fixed number in writing before anything begins. The domain, the website account and every piece of content are in your name from day one. Full detail on the pricing page.
